Hanging out in the summer night air Parking by the dry cleaners off Willett Avenue On the corner after school that's where you'd find us Making plans sharing dreams it was grand Places adventures shared But when the time comes you say goodbye Feeling energy that's all around So what hand are you gonna play? Sometimes things don't go down like planned And this just might be your judgement day Long ago when we were kids Before you know it seems like yesterday The world stood before us. We are armed with only our music. As we looked out from top of a mountain. It was quite a view. Been a while I didn't know about your situation Can't bear the thought of what its done to you Never got to say goodbye They told me only after you had gone Now I can't stop going back Going back to the summer nights off Willett Avenue

WINDMILLS 03:56
Sat in the old cafe, in the corner. Watching the doorway, to see all who came and went. Couples engaged in conversation. What they were saying? I don't know... Where ever you go it seems were all the same. In every journey, its never the same. Sometimes its the faces, sometimes its the name. Got lost in time got lost in space. With a stroll down the street. Out for a night on the town. Where ever you go it seems were all the same. The prospect of rescue, from the lines of the road. Looking out for diversion, in any number of ways. Every place seemed different, forgot to count the days. As it blended together, turned off the lights when the sun was rising at dawn. Where ever you go it seems were all the same. People chasing windmills.

I think it was Freud, who said when we dream, our dreams are like poetry. Dreams, a picture of an unconcious wish. Dreaming. Deep sleep takes us on a journey, pain or suffering or common healing. To walk a thousand miles. physical space, spaces of time. When did you lose control? Dreaming, dreaming. Open your eyes, were you only dreaming...... The rules of reality, do or don't they apply? Explore, discover, unlocking their meaning. Whats in your dream? Whats in your dream? Whats in your dream?

I could never really differentiate. If you were my lover, or just a friend of mine. Hung our souls out to dry. Cast our fate, our fate, to the evening breeze. As we circled one another in conversation, conversation that lasted till dawn. But what did we know, what did we know? Having a moonlit dinner, on an empty beach. Grasping at straws, that seemed always out of reach. Like a conscience, always there. Beneath the surface, but never seen. Is there something I could show you? When the crowd forms and shouts their silent screem. Something new to judge, like the latest fashion. Spread our wings, steal across an amber sky. Like a conscience always beneath the surface, but never seen. Beneath the surface.

Look out any window see the leaves that are falling as another year winds down Time passes much too quickly seasons changing soon its upon us time for celebration what plans will the future bring? Hours keep changing and we look for answers we search for clues Some times are hard this you can't dispute people dissatisfied with what they see and what they hear Time passes much too quickly sometimes it seems like its just all gone in a blink of an eye what plans will the future bring? Don't give up when your tired when your cold disappointment can test your faith in a world of opposition Time passes much too quickly sometimes it seems like its just all gone in a blink of an eye what plans will the future bring?

BUTTERFLY 03:47
Found an old photo album with memories frozen frozen in time from long ago Different styles fashion clothing cars this moment in time that I now hold in my hand I can't help thinking what the people must have gone through hope they knew kindness and found some love along the way and shared in a laugh or two An old photograph and in the corner that faded picture sat a girl watching a butterfly Smile on her face as she watched it dancing in the evening breeze those are innocent childhood themes I can't help thinking what she must have gone through hope she knew kindness and got to dance in the evening breeze like the butterfly

I used to watch out Out of the corner of my eye Sound cascading all around us Like the waves on the shore in the middle of a storm With a fury those lights burned bright We stood tall Waiting for a sign for my cue For the reason why Before the storm comes Before we fall Before the storm The clouds they all stepped aside as the stars rained down When the god of thunder left us We were all alone it was never the same Somewhere he's keeping time listen Tell us what to do Maybe at Rocks or Lorraines We'd roam like tigers Before the storm

DOWN TO YOU 03:49
Sledgehammer to the brain couldn't see the forest thru the trees funny but she felt her back was up against the wall Knew he had to get away Friday night hangin at Kent Field relying on instinct relying on a dream blind faith or something in between Grew a taste for he road didn't take long to feed the thought that at every new town she could reinvent herself Looking for a better place thought she saw it once or twice never quite could put her finger on it but knew this was not paradise Sometimes feels like it's all gonna come down down to you down to you One day when that big black car drove up to her and the window rolled down the man made an offer a brand new deal She thought to herself she smiled and said don't need your time thanks anyway I've wasted enough I'm gonna stay it was then she decided and she made her stand that day. Sometimes feels like it's all gonna come down down to you down to you

about

Album Notes

“Nick Duane is a synthpop/indie rock/alternative artist who is creating some very moody and interesting textures with his brand new release “Before the Storm”. “Willett Avenue” is recommended listening for fans of dark, dreamy alt rock – definitely easier to sink into than most more mainstream musical fare. With a patient vocal approach that sounds inspired by David Bowie and Bono with a spot of Talking Heads, the avant-garde passion comes across. I’m impressed.”
-IMP Artist Review
“ Before the Storm is a strong release for Duane. His ability to create different moods by using layers of instruments and vocal lines is commendable, going a long way to bridging the gap between audience and performer throughout the record. ”
-Matthew Warnock
"Beneath the Surface", is an equally caressing and thrilling ambient trip that I personally think is a superb narrative peak moment to signify the middle grounds of the spin. Exquisite, fluidic harmonic structures entertain the ears in a successful attempt to support legit David Bowie singing, narrating a tame spiritual rant : I have nothing but praise for this song, it easily is one of the most significant ambient pieces I have heard in years."
